Missing Trent...

At the beginning of summer vacation also brings a time of saying "see ya later" to my nephew Trent; whom usually leaves to spend the summer with his mother and siblings. We always miss him, but try make it a happy "send-off" by meeting at the local A&W for a good root beer float with his cousins and soon to be someday "step-sisters". I gotta tell you I feel sorry for my nephew with 3 sisters at his mom's and soon to be 2 more here with his dad! He's so doomed with that many sisters to have to put up with!

Well we certainly have been busy since the end of the school year and the beginning of summer vacation! We finished off the school year with the Annual 4-H/GirlScouts Mother-Daughter night out...it was a fun time! Check out that sea of PINK!!!!

And ofcourse we have to top off the last day of school with our Annual Friends Out-2-Lunch celebration!! How to you feed a group of overly excited and extremely hungry girls that just started summer vacation????? Cici's Pizza...here we come!

Macey's First Communion

There was a big event for Macey just a few weeks ago, she made her first communion during Sunday mass, she has worked very hard towards this the entire school year...and we are so proud of her! She was a little nervous but proved she could handle the pressure with grace and beauty! But what made her beautiful was seeing how much her spirituality has deepened during this last year which makes us happy and hopeful for her continued relationship with God. Some of her family and friends were able to join us for the mass and celebration afterwards.

Easter Sunday 2009

Ofcourse our Easter was a chilly one but none the less it was a blessing! Macey loves to search for her Easter basket as soon as she wakes up, and I'm beginning to wonder if she'll ever outgrow this. We went to church (and Macey couldn't wait to wear the dress her Meme and Papaw sent her) and then celebrated with the rest of my family at my mother's house. Ofcourse there was another egg hunt there!

Twilight...

As some of you may know I've been dragged into this other world known as the "Twilight" saga. Believe me, when I say "dragged", I mean that! However, after finishing the series of books I will admit that it was VERY hard to get me started in them I do wish there was more of it to read! So as my nieces anticipated the release of the DVD in March, this ofcourse gave us a reason to celebrate! Hence the Twilight DVD release party with the ultimate guest!

We also had lots of "themed food" pertaining to Twilight! Tomato soup with garlic bread, blushing Bellas, vampire cupcakes, "wolf" chow, apple shaped sugar cookies and much much more...way more than any of us could've eaten! But leave it to us to ALWAYS go overboard! End result: Lots of FUN!

How Time Flies...AGAIN!

Ok as you can see I'm guilty of not posting in awhile. Those of you who know me well, know this in not unusual for me! However, it still amazes me how time can get away from us. Which reminds me of some of my favorite quotes;

So let me show you how I spent the last few months...

First, Scott had to go to Atlanta (for a week) for a Leadership Conference, and Macey and I always find things to do. So March is Riley's birthday, yes our dog! He turned 4 and Macey made him a great sign for the celebration! I won't make you watch the video as it contains much high-pitch squealing from Macey and I, but here are some of the pics.

February 2009...exciting month!!

February is usually a great month for us not because of all the snow that we get week after week and not just because of Valentine's Day but because it's the month that our daughter was born. February 20th to be exact. And now our little girl has turned 8 years old! CRAZY...thoughts of changing diapers didn't seem so long ago!? She was so ecstatic to get her 1st ipod!! This month was also the Girl Scouts Sweetheart Dance (Father-daughter), one of those moments you Dad's shouldn't take lightly. So other news that happened on Friday February 13th...no it's not bad...it's FANTASTIC, my brother Todd and his girlfriend of 3 years Treasure got engaged. He proposed to her at the Durham Museum on one of the train cars, one that is actually locked at all times to the public becasue its such a beautiful train car! "It was so perfect", they both said! And now they are actually planning on having their wedding and reception at the Durham Museum! My family couldn't be happier for them!

Ok ok... yes, you already know that I'm just bad at updating on a regular basis I have no more excuses! So I will give you brief rundown of the last few months...Macey started off the year by participating in the Union Pacific Cookie Train with her girl scout troop. This is the kickoff to selling GS cookies. They were provided a plain white box that GS cookies are shipped in and a real box of cookies tht they had to use to make up their own train car. It had to be completely covered and they had to use their imagination. (Macey's handprint is on the front of the train covered with fabric) They did a fantastic job and it turned out so cute! The event took place at our formerly known UP Union Station now known as our Durham Museum. It's a beautiful facility with a lot of fantastic history and trains that you can walk through to experience how they used to travel. (I know a special nephew who would go CRAZY over this place! Maybe one day he'll get to visit!)

I wanted to post some exciting news! What a Happy New Year when you find out your nephew proposed to his girlfriend Leslie on New Year's Eve. We are overjoyed and are excited she's going to be a part of our family! Congratulations Donnie and Leslie!

Annual cookie bake...

Every year my sisters and I along with my mom and my nieces get together and bake cookies. We bake so much that every year we say the same thing..."let's not make so many differnt kinds next year",and ofcourse everyone agrees but we never seem to remember. This year we held our event at my nieces home because we could utilize two ovens and we even got my nephew and his girlfriend involved rolling out sugar cookies. It was a lot of fun! As usual we had cookies overflowing everywhere and I couldn't wait to divide and deliver to ensure I didn't eat to much myself!

Christmas Time in Omaha...

Well this year we stayed in Omaha for Christmas and we were blessed with a white one. That hasn't happened in awhile. Scott and I both agree that we enjoy the snow especially during the holiday season but when the holidays pass so should the snow! Macey has learned to like it and can't wait to play in it and she especially enjoys the hot cocoa afterwards.

When we stay in Omaha for Christmas we put up two trees...one is mine and the other one is Scott's & Macey's. They decided to start that tradition because they believe I won't let them decorate mine...come on, do you really believe that?

Macey sang in the Children's Christmas choir this year and did a fantastic job, we were very proud of her. She got up every Saturday to go to church and practice.

Christmas morning was wonderful, I had told Macey the night before to get a good night sleep and not to wakeup to early. She was so worried about getting coal in her stocking this year, that when she did wake up in the morning (at 8 am) she went and checked her stocking right away...she came running back down the hall to wake us up and said "You guys wake up, wake up Santa was here and he didn't leave me any coal in my stocking and he left me two big presents under the tree! He even ate my cookies and drank my milk and left me a note too!" I wish I would have seen her face when she walked out there to check...it was a blessed Christmas.

We were certainly thankful for the wonderful time we had with family over the Thanksgiving holiday. It's always fun getting together with everyone and ofcourse enjoying all the yummy food!!! Macey and her cousin Tatumn had some extra quality time together at their Meme's...and they had a blast! We had our Turkey day dinner at Scott's sister's house. Karen and Randy provided us lots of family, food and fun entertainment!! I've added some of my favorite memories to share. Did I mention the weather was the BEST. Thanks Karen & Randy it was great!

Yes I know, I'm very very bad at keeping this blog up...and I am truly sorry to my loved ones, you know which ones I'm referring too, yeah you!! I'm going to try and touch on the highlights of the last few months...by the way, there are a lot of them! I've learned a lot about my extended family from playing Apples to Apples...I might just share a little.

Halloween...

Ok, ok... I know I've been told, I'm behind on my updates! I really have no excuse other then I've been told by my many friends that I am the busiest stay-at-home mother of one that's never home!

So Halloween was here before we knew it, and Macey had the best day ever! She pulled a fast one on us this year and decided she wanted to be a "she-devil" for Halloween however most of you know she attends a catholic school and they always have a parade and a party but we felt that it wasn't appropriate to dress as a devil for the school parade/party, thank goodness she totally agreed. So she chose a witch instead...any difference you ask? Not really, but none the less she pulled off Halloween sporting two different costumes this year!

Did I mention we've had fantastic weather which made it even more fun for the kids! Normally we have fall-like weather (40's & 50's) but it's been in the 70's and low 80's which almost unbelievable!

Boy have we been busy! Thought I better take a breather and update for everyone! First of all I can not believe it's October already! Where does time go...Macey has been very busy with school, Brownies, swimming and playing! I've been busy looking for a job, volunteering at Macey's school and of course quilting. I've just about finished a little quilt for our niece Tatumn, it's precious. Scott's been busy with a new position at work and getting in what little time he has left for golf! Last week, Macey had a long weekend so I took her and her friends to the Children's Museum. This time of year they do the "Cobweb Castle" not too scary and also have an awesome dinosaur exibit! This October we have two weddings to attend, one down and one to go! Were going to the Nebraska vs. Baylor game later this month I hope we enjoy it ...by enjoy I mean I hope we win!!

We are part of the family too!!!!!!!!

I was just informed by our 4 legged family members that they are quite upset that they weren't posted on the Bradshaw blog. Let me introduce Macey's older siblings, Smokey and Molly they are going to be 10 years old this month and they think they run the household. Riley is Macey's younger sibling and he turned 3 in March! He's lot's of fun and full of energy but definitely a little spoiled like Macey!

Let's see, we'll give you a quick run of this year's events!

Macey turned 7 in February with a promised trip to Chicago to start her summer off visiting the amazing American Girl Store! While we were in Chicago we visited the Navy Pier, Field Museum and shopped the Magnificent Mile! It was great!
I was kind enough to be "suckered" into being the "Cookie Mom" for Macey's Brownie troop! I have recently found out that this is a permanent title for me now!
We went to Columbus, Mississippi in March for Heather & Davey's wedding and Macey was their beautiful flower girl. It was a beautiful event and great to see everyone again!

Macey finished up the 1st grade this year and started up swim lessons! She's made great progress and shows interest in being a strong swimmer!
We took a fantastic trip home to Arkansas in July to visit Scott's side of the family. We stayed with his parents for a week and then Macey and I stayed a week longer with Laura, Jesse and Tatumn in LR. We had a nice time visiting, shopping and playing at the water park! And we can not forget the horse stables, I felt like we lived their for a couple of days!
Macey and I went to visit the Novacek's in their new home in Kearney over Labor Day weekend! It's beautiful of course! I helped them get unpacked and somewhat organized while the kids played and had a great time! Watch out for the rattle snakes though!!!!!! Good luck with the open house Annie!
We had visitors coming this month so we raced to get our guest room done! And we did, just in time to welcome Laura and Tatumn! We loved having them and wish they could come back soon! Sorry we didn't have better weather while you were here.
Macey is back in school now and started 2nd grade! Wow, she's continuing with fall swimming but is putting dance on hold this year. I guess after 4 years of dance she needs a break. She's also in a brownies troop at school so FYI cookie time starts the first of the year!
